Man könnte denken, ganz Wien sei eine Ausstellung, wenn man durch die Stadt flaniert. Der öffentliche Raum entlang des Donaukanals, die sogenannte „Hall of Fame“ ist ein Zentrum der Street-Art und hat viele Fans, nicht nur in Wien, sondern auf der ganzen Welt. Hier entstand in den vergangenen Jahren, befeuert durch das jährlich stattfindende „Calle libre Street-Art-Festival“ eine der größten Freiluft-Galerien Europas.
Die Stadt Wien stellt am Donaukanal und an vielen weiteren Orten der Stadt Wände für legale Graffitikunst zur Verfügung. Die Akzeptanz für Street-Art ist mit den Jahren kontinuierlich gestiegen – dadurch wird Stadtraum mitgestaltet, Diskurs ermöglicht und interkultureller Austausch gefördert. Kritische Stimmen sehen eine Tendenz zur Kommerzialisierung der Kunstsparte, die es auch schon in Museen und bekannte Galerien schafft.
Bei Aprilwetter spazierten die Schüler*innen der 6a des Wahlpflichtfachs KuKoM (Kunst – Kommunikation – Medien) von Spittelau bis zur Urania entlang des Donaukanals, staunten, diskutierten und machten viele Fotos. Die Inspirationen dieser Momentaufnahme – denn Street-Art ist schnell vergänglich – sollen die jungen Künstler*innen zu einem Stencil, einer Schablonentechnik der Graffiti-Kunst, anregen.
